HEARING IMPAIRMENTS

Everyone can suffer from a hearing impairment.

Hearing problems can have serious psychological repercussions on those who suffer from them – anxiety, isolation, hesitation to communicate, depression.

It is therefore very important to consult an auditory health professional as soon as you have a doubt.

Here are four types of hearing problems.

Children
and teenagers

In children, hearing problems can occur at birth or during the first years of life. If they are not detected early, they can lead to significant delays in speech and language development.
If your child does not react to sounds and voices, they repeatedly ask you to repeat yourself, raise the volume on the television, or have constant ear infections, you should have their hearing checked. The hearing test is conducted as a game and is not painful. Our team will advise you on the steps to take if any hearing loss is detected.

Age-related
hearing loss

With age, we inevitably lose some hearing. Over time, difficulty hearing and communicating can lead to abandonment of certain activities, isolation, even depression.
It is therefore important not to minimize hearing loss. As soon as you have any doubt, have your hearing tested by an auditory health professional. You may need a hearing aid to continue living an active and fulfilling life.

Occupational deafness

Occupational deafness may occur as the result of exposure to a very lound sound (e.g. an explosion), or more insidiously due to chronic exposure to sound levels over 85 dB(A). In the latter case, you won’t detect it right away, but the occurance of ringing or buzzing should alert you.
If you have hearing loss, we will help you in your dealings with the CSST. Plus, we will assist you in selecting hearing aids that are best suited to your needs. We can also recommend hearing protectors to prevent damage to your hearing.

Baby boomers

If in 2015, you are between the ages of 56 and 72,
you are officially a baby boomer.

If you are between the ages of 56 and 59,
the risk of hearing loss is a bit higher than 1 in 6 people.

Current hearing aids are high definition devices that are equally effective for hearing speech and music.

Concerned with meeting the needs of baby boomers, several manufacturers of hearing aids have focused on developing devices to best satisfy their needs: increasingly automated devices, music recognition, improved algorithms to ensure a high definition signal, Bluetooth interface, and more.

Don’t let the situation worsen and affect your daily life. Untreated hearing loss can lead to significant consequences on your quality of life and activities.
